October 29, 2016 - American Hockey League (AHL)
San Diego Gulls News Release
SAN DIEGO - The Anaheim Ducks announced today that the National Hockey League (NHL) club has reassigned defenseman Shea Theodore and goaltender Dustin Tokarski to the San Diego Gulls, Anaheim's primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL).
Theodore, 21 (8/3/95), has collected one assist with a +1 rating and four penalty minutes (PIM) in four appearances with Anaheim this season. Since making his NHL debut last season, the 6-1, 194-pound defenseman has earned 3-69 points with a +8 rating and six PIM in 23 career NHL games.
Selected by Anaheim in the first round (26th overall) of the 2013 NHL Draft, Theodore has scored 13-3750 points in 65 career AHL games with San Diego (2015-present) and Norfolk (2014-15). He was named the Western Hockey League's (WHL) Defenseman of the Year in 2014-15 and concluded his WHL career as Seattle's all-time leader in goals (58) and points (212) by a defenseman. Theodore also won gold with Team Canada at the 2015 IIHF World Junior Championship, scoring 1-12 points with a +12 rating in seven tournament games.
Tokarski, 27 (9/16/89), made his Anaheim debut on Oct. 28 versus Columbus, stopping all five shots he faced after coming on in relief of John Gibson during the third period. Tokarski owns a 10-12-5 record with one shutout, a 2.84 goals-against average (GAA) and .904 save percentage (SV%) in 34 career NHL games with Anaheim, Montreal and Tampa Bay. Tokarski has also appeared in five career NHL Playoff games, including a 3-2 overtime win in Game 3 of the 2014 Eastern Conference Final on May 22, 2014 at the New York Rangers.
Acquired from Montreal in exchange for Max Friberg on Jan. 7, 2016, Tokarski posted a 2-0-0 record with a 3.50 GAA and .885 SV% in two games with the Gulls this season. The 6-0, 205-pound goaltender was originally selected by Tampa Bay in the fifth round (122nd overall) of the 2008 NHL Draft. --gulls-- SanDiegoGulls.com
