Minnesota Recalls Blum and Haula, Iowa Signs Rioux

Des Moines, IA - Minnesota Wild General Manager Chuck Fletcher on Monday announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club has recalled defenseman Jonathon Blum and forward Erik Haula (pronounced HOW-la) from the Iowa Wild of the American Hockey League (AHL) and placed goalie Josh Harding and center Mikko Koivu on Injured Reserve. Iowa Wild General Manager Jim Mill announced on Monday the team has signed defenseman Nicholas Rioux to a Professional Tryout Agreement (PTO).

Blum, 24 (1/30/89), has tallied 17 points (4-1317) in 31 games this season with Iowa. He ranks tied for first on the team in scoring and power-play goals with four. The 6-foot-1, 188-pound native of Long Beach, Calif., has recorded 22 points (7-1522) and 20 penalty minutes (PIM) in 91 career NHL games during three seasons with Nashville. Blum was signed as a free agent by Minnesota on July 12, 2013.

Haula, 22 (3/23/91), has tallied 17 points (9-817) in 24 games with Iowa this season. He ranks tied for first on the team in goals, scoring and power-play goals with four. The 5-foot-11, 192-pound native of Pori, Finland, recorded an assist in his NHL debut on Nov. 29 vs. Colorado and owns two assists and a plus-3 rating in 10 games with Minnesota this season. Haula was selected by the Wild in the seventh round (182nd overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.

Rioux is a third-year pro who spent training camp with Iowa before heading to the team's Central Hockey League (CHL) affiliate in Quad City. In 28 games with the Mallards, Rioux scored twice and set up 10 others for 12 points. He has yet to make his AHL debut after playing his first three pro seasons in the CHL. In 159 career CHL games, the 27-year old has 14 goals and 46 assists for 60 points.

Iowa will continue its six-game road swing in Milwaukee with the Wild on Monday at 7 p.m. The team will return home on Jan. 15 to host Toronto at 7:05 p.m.
