IceCaps and Jungle Jim's to Host Hockey Festivals
January 6, 2014 - American Hockey League (AHL)
St. John's IceCaps News Release
The St. John's IceCaps and Jungle Jim's restaurants have teamed to host Jungle Jim's IceCaps Minor Hockey Festivals throughout the province this winter.
Festivals will be held in Bay Roberts (January 29th), Corner Brook (February 20th), Grand Falls-Windsor (March 20th), Happy Valley-Goose Bay (March 26th) and St. John's (March 28th). Six hundred festival passes (120 at each location) will be awarded through a contest at Jungle Jim's restaurants. Children will receive a ballot with the purchase of any meal at Jungle Jim's. The contest is open to children aged six to 13 who are registered with a minor hockey association under the governance of Hockey Newfoundland and Labrador.
"The IceCaps consider ourselves a provincial team so it's a natural fit to join with a province-wide franchise like Jungle Jim's in this exciting program for children of Newfoundland and Labrador," said Danny Williams, President and CEO of the St. John's IceCaps.
"Jungle Jim's is thrilled to give so many kids the opportunity to develop their hockey skills with the St. John's IceCaps organization," said Sean Brake, co-owner of the Jungle Jim franchises. "It is especially gratifying that we are able to bring the IceCaps organization to the many communities Jungle Jim's calls home throughout the province."
Winners will also receive a Festival jersey, a $10.00 Jungle Jim's meal voucher and qualify to participate in additional prize draws for IceCaps merchandise. Festival participants can also win a Jungle Jim's IceCaps Game Night prize package for two to attend the April 4th IceCaps game versus the Springfield Falcons, featuring a Jungle Jim's Intermission with Buddy the Puffin. One prize package will be awarded per festival. Each prize package includes a one-night stay at the Delta St. John's, two game tickets, a $50.00 Jungle Jim's meal voucher and airfare for two.
Festival include on-ice and off-ice clinics conducted by Trevor Murphy, Director of Community Partnerships for the St. John's IceCaps, the IceCaps Hockey Development Team, members of the local hockey community and IceCaps mascot Buddy the Puffin.
Draw dates and further details are available at Jungle Jim's Restaurants in Newfoundland and Labrador and on-line at www.junglejims.ca and www.stjohnsicecaps.com.
