Minnesota Lynx News Release

This Week's Opponents - Phoenix This week's only game is Minnesota's third matchup of the season with the Phoenix Mercury. Expect a lot of points in Wednesday's game as each team has posted 100+ points on their home court against each other. In the first game in Phoenix, the Mercury handed the Lynx a 104-80 loss behind Diana Taurasi's 28 points. In the return contest, Roneeka Hodges and Candice Wiggins went for 22 points each as the Lynx went on to rout the Mercury 109-80. The Lynx hope to take advantage of a short-handed Mercury squad as leading scorer Taurasi will be serving the second game of her two game suspension.

Lynx' 2008 Second & Third Round Picks Selected to 2009 All-Star Game Lynx forward Charde Houston and center Nicky Anosike have been selected to participate in this year's WNBA All-Star game in Connecticut. Anosike (2nd/2008) and Houston (3rd/2008) become the first later-round draft choices to enter the league since 2001 who've gone on to be chosen for an All-Star Game.

Anosike is averaging career highs in points (13.9), rebounds (7.4), assists (2.8), steals (3.1), and field-goal percentage (.536 FG%). Along with the career highs, Anosike is ranked within the top 20 in each of those categories.

Houston is averaging a career-best 14.3 points and 6.1 rebounds per game. Fellow All-Stars Lauren Jackson and Sophia Young are the only others with Houston to be averaging 14+ points and six+ rebounds on the season.

Both players will make their first All-Star appearance in their second seasons in the WNBA. The All-Star game will be played in Connecticut at 2:30pm Central time and can be watched on ABC.

Lynx Add Tasha Humphrey to the Roster The Lynx signed forward and former first round pick Tasha Humphrey last Friday and waived center Christi Thomas. Last season Humphrey was traded to the Washington Mystics and appeared in eight games with the Mystics, averaging 11.1 points and 6.1 rebounds including a career-high 28 points and 10 rebounds in the June 14, 2008 match-up against the Phoenix Mercury. In ten appearances this season Thomas averaged 0.3 points and 1.5 rebounds per game with Minnesota.
