CHICAGO - July 20, 2009 - The Eastern Conference coaches have spoken, and their votes have landed Jia Perkins on the 2009 WNBA Eastern Conference All-Star Team.

Jia Perkins was voted on as a reserve and will travel to Uncasville, Connecticut to play in the 2009 WNBA All-Star Game as announced Monday by the WNBA.

Reserves for each conference were voted onto the All-Star team by each conference's respective coaches.

"It's a great feeling to know that I've played well enough throughout the first half of the season to get noticed by the coaches throughout the conference," said Perkins. "I'm excited to participate in my first all-star game and am looking forward to competing with the league's best."

Perkins has been the complete player for the Sky all season. She has averaged 15.5 points per game; good for 12th in the league. Perkins dishes out 3.56 assists per game (10th in the WNBA) and she has brought in 4.1 rebounds per game (8th in the league among guards). On the defensive end Perkins is 4th in the league averaging 2.38 steals per game.

This season is Perkins' sixth in the WNBA and her fourth with the Sky. It will be her first All-Star appearance.

"Jia Perkins is always very dangerous," said Head Coach and General Manager Steven Key after the Sky defeated San Antonio (7/19/09, Sky 85-75) in which Jia scored 29 points, 3assists and 3 steals. "I just know that every team plans for her the way they plan for Fowles and for Candice. Jia getting voted in shows that there is a trio of dangerous players on the Sky."

The 2009 WNBA All-Star Game will be nationally televised on ABC on Saturday, July 25 at 2:30 pm CDT from the Mohegan Sun Arena.

The rest of the Eastern Conference bench will be filled out with Katie Smith (Detroit Shock), Sancho Lyttle (Atlanta Dream), Shameka Christon (New York Liberty), Asjha Jones (Connecticut Sun) and Erika De Souza (Atlanta Dream).
