
Minnesota Assigns Veilleux, Recalls Gustafsson

Des Moines, IA - Minnesota Wild General Manager Chuck Fletcher on Thursday announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club has reassigned forward StephaneVeilleux (pronounced steph-AWN vay-OOH) to the Iowa Wild of the American Hockey League (AHL) and recalled goaltender Johan Gustafsson (pronounced JOE-hahn GUHS-tahf-suhn) from Iowa. In addition, Iowa Wild General Manager Jim Mill announced forward Mickey Lang has been released from a professional tryout agreement (PTO).
Veilleux, 32 (11/16/81), has recorded one goal and 19 penalty minutes (PIM) in 25 games with Minnesota this season. He has collected eight points (3-58) in 20 contests with Iowa. The 6-foot-1, 200-pound native of St. Georges de Beauce, PQ, has compiled 102 points (47-55102) and 336 PIM in 485 NHL games with Minnesota, Tampa Bay and New Jersey. Veilleux ranks fifth in Wild history in hits (423), eighth in games played (407), ninth in PIM (287) and 11th in shots (580).
Gustafsson, 21 (2/28/92), is 8-9-2 with a 2.86 goals-against average (GAA), a .908 save percentage (SV%) and one shutout in 21 games with Iowa this season. The 6-foot-2, 199-pound native of Koping, Sweden, went 20-13-0 with a 1.70 GAA, a .929 SV% and four shutouts in 33 games for Lulea HF in Sweden's Elite League last season. Gustafsson was selected by the Wild in the sixth round (159th overall) of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. He has not appeared in an NHL game.
Lang returns to the Orlando Solar Bears, Iowa's ECHL affiliate. He played in five games for the Wild, scoring his first AHL goal for his only point.
Iowa hosts the Chicago Wolves on Friday, February 7th at 7:05 p.m. Friday's game is a $2 Beer Night, presented by 100.3 The Bus. Every Friday, fans (21 and over) may purchase $2, ten-ounce domestic drafts through the first period of play. The game also includes the Equipment Drive for Courage League Sports, presented by Scheels. The Iowa Wild will be collecting new or gently used sports equipment to benefit Courage League Sports, an adaptive sports/recreation facility serving kids and young adults.
