July 1, 2008, Evansville, IN - The Otters returned home from a six game road trip, and Southern Illinois gave them a rude welcome back. The Miners scored five runs in the second inning on their way to an 8-4 win. The Miners had 13 hits off Evansville, who used five pitchers, only one of which lasted over two innings. Southern Illinois' starter Reid Price (2-1) struck out six and scattered only five hits in seven innings to get the win. Justin Randall went 2-4 with 2 RBI, and Daniel Burton went 2-5 with a homerun to lead the offense for Evansville. The Otters head back to the field on Wednesday at 7:05 CDT for game two of the series against the Miners. 2007 All-Star Justin Jordan goes against Ryan Bird for the Miners.
