RiverHawks sign All-American
July 1, 2008 - Frontier League (FL)
Rockford RiverHawks News Release
LOVES PARK, Ill. - The Rockford RiverHawks announced Tuesday that they have signed first baseman Bryan Cook and placed outfielder Aaron Davis on the 14-day disabled list.
Cook, a true rookie out of Nova Southeastern, was a Daktronics NCAA Division II All-American. He hit .418 with 17 home runs and 48 RBI for the Sharks. He was the American Baseball Coaches Association South Region Player of the Year.
Davis went on the DL because of a strained hip flexor. To make room on the DL, the RiverHawks released catcher Steve Pickerell, who has been out since early June because of a broken ulna.
The RiverHawks are members of the Frontier League, a 12-team independent professional baseball league that will play its 16th season this summer. Advertising and season-ticket information is available by calling the box office at (815) 885-2255. Most games are broadcast live on WNTA (1330 AM) and the internet.
