
Wild Things kick off July in fashion

Washington, PA - The Washington Wild Things, presented by Washington Federal Savings Bank, defeated the Midwest Sliders by a score of 7-0 in game one of their three-game set on Tuesday night.
Designated hitter Tim Alberts gave Washington fans a show in his CONSOL Energy Park debut, batting two for two with two walks and factoring in six out of the seven Washington runs with 5 RBI and one scored run. Alberts gave the Wild Things a 2-0 lead with a two-run double off the center field wall in the fourth inning, and followed it up with a three-run homer in the fifth.
J.J. Hollenbeck improved his record to 3-2, allowing just four hits in seven shutout innings. Hollenbeck struck out six Sliders, including two with the bases loaded in the third inning. Dan Horvath relieved Hollenbeck to complete the shutout, adding three strikeouts.
The Wild Things and Sliders continue their series over the next two nights before the Florence Freedom visit Washington starting Friday. The Wild Things have five straight home series over the next 19 days, interrupted only by the All-Star break July 14-17.
