PL Idaho Falls Chukars

Mills Money as Win Streak Moves to Four

Idaho Falls Chukars News Release

BILLINGS, MT -- Idaho Falls gets solid starting pitching for the second straight night. The bullpen once again keeps the Mustangs scoreless. Adding Ryan O'Hearn to that formula is a path to success. Chukars knock off Mustangs 3-1 for fourth straight win.

Idaho Falls (13-11) increases their win streak to a season high nine games. After allowing a leadoff double, Alec Mills retired the next 12 batters in the Billings order. Brian O'Grady did score after hitting the double, giving the Mustangs (11-13) a 1-0 lead. That's all Mills would allow, as he faced just one over the minimum through five innings, allowing just two hits and that one run.

Ryan O'Hearn increased his hit streak to 13 games in the first innings, and belted his fifth home run in the fourth frame. His solo shot was his second jack in as many nights, and tied the game at one. The Chukars took the lead next inning with a two out rally. Desmond Henry used his speed to leg out a double to left center field, and Luis Valenzuela followed it up with a line drive single to right. Idaho Falls grabbed the 2-1 lead. A Wander Franco single in the eighth increased it to 3-1.

Chukars bullpen provided a scoreless bridge to the end of the game. Cruz Guevara picked up where Mills left off, retiring the side in order his first two frames. After walking a batter in the eighth, Jon Fitzsimmons came in and did the same. However, the London, Ontario native struck out Ty Washington to end the inning. He would retire the side in order in the ninth.

The Chukars pull into second place in the Pioneer League South with the win and Rockies loss. The Greybirds have won six in a row at Dehler Park.

Idaho Falls looks for the sweep against Billings tomorrow night. Eric Skoglund is scheduled to start for Idaho Falls, against Tejay Antone.
