Clarke's Leadoff Homer Enough for Voyagers' Win

Great Falls Voyagers center fielder Chevy Clarke hit a home run to leadoff the game for the only run in a 1-0 loss for the Ogden Raptors Friday night at Centene Stadium.
Clarke hit a 2-2 pitch off Jeff Brigham to start the game in the bottom of the first. Brigham went on to pitch just one over the minimum in three innings, allowing two hits.
Joe Broussard, Edinson Bock and A.J. Vanegas finished the game for Ogden, combining for five shutout innings, giving up just three hits and striking out six.
For the Voyagers, Brandon Brennan got the win with five scoreless innings, facing the minimum 15 batters thanks to four inning-ending double plays.
Mike Blanke and Devon Davis pitched three innings of scoreless relief to get to Jon Bengard. Bengard recorded his league-leading fifth save with a scoreless ninth.
The Raptors had chances in the late innings but couldn't capitalize, going 0-for-5 with runners in scoring position. In the sixth inning, Mike Ahmed flied out to left to end the inning with runners on second and third. In the eighth inning, Cristian Gomez flied out to center to end the inning.
In the ninth, Ahmed singled with one out. Pinch runner Jaylen Harris stole second as Colin Hering struck out for the second out. Julian Leon then hit a grounder between first and second. Voyager first baseman Ryan Jones made a diving stop and flipped the ball to the pitcher Bengard at first just before Leon hit the bag for the final out.
The Raptors travel to Billings for a three-game series with the Mustangs, starting Saturday. J.D. Underwood will take the mound for Ogden against Wyatt Strahan. Game starts at 7:05.
