GRAND JUNCTION, CO. - The Missoula Osprey (11-13) blasted their way past the Grand Junction Rockies (13-11) by a score of 11-5 at Suplizio Field to end a four-game losing streak. Kevin Cron had two of Missoula's fourteen hits with a two-run homer in the first inning and a three-run blast in the fourth inning for his season-high five RBI.
The Osprey scored three in the first frame off Rockies' starter Sam Howard with the Cron home run and a pair of Grand Junction errors in the inning. It was a rocky night in the field for Grand Junction with six errors spread round the field. Missoula tacked on two more runs in the third inning with a Trevor Mitsui RBI single to bring in Fernery Ozuna and Justin Williams would score on a fielding error from left fielder Randy Reyes.
The scoring outburst continued with five runs in the fourth inning, led by Kevin Cron's three-run home run just over the right field wall. Fernery Ozuna and Justin Williams preceded the dinger with RBI singles of their own. Both would join Cron in standout performances, as Ozuna went 4-6 with four runs scored. Williams went 3-4 at the plate with a pair of RBI. As a team, the Osprey went 8-19 with runners in scoring position.
Carlos Hernandez (2-0) added his second win of the season with five innings of work and allowed six hits, three runs, which came from a Yonathan Daza three-run home run, three walks, and four strikeouts.
Sam Howard (0-1) of Grand Junction took the loss as he was roughed up for four hits and five runs, three earned, over three innings. Craig Schlitter followed him in relief and also gave up four hits and five runs, but none were earned.
