Mikko Sivonen Suspended by Greenville Grrrowl

GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Greenville Grrrowl of the East Coast Hockey League announced on Sunday that MIKKO SIVONEN has been suspended for leaving the team. The 25-year old Tampere, Finland native has elected to finish the season in Finland, and fulfill a 6-month military obligation in the process.

Sivonen missed four games with an eye injury he suffered on December 21st in Florence, SC during a 5-2 loss to the Pee Dee Pride. He was third on the Grrrowl scoring list with 16-17-33 points in 38 games at the time of his suspension on Sunday. Sivonen joins JONATHAN ROY as the second member of the Grrrowl to leave for Europe this season. Roy left to finish his season in Germany on December 22nd.

The Greenville Grrrowl return to action Friday, January 24th as they battle the Florida Everblades at TECO Arena at 7:30 PM (Newsradio 1330 & 950, WORD). Greenville's next home game is scheduled for Friday, February 7th at 7:05 PM against the South Carolina Stingrays. Tickets are available at the BI-LO Center Box Office and all TicketMaster outlets.
