Dayton Bombers News Release

Winger Chris M. Thompson scored a pair of goal, including a power play tally that turned out to be the game-winner, as the Dayton Bombers Professional Hockey Team authored its fourth win in its last five games, a 3-1 triumph over the Johnstown Chiefs at the Ervin J. Nutter Center Sunday night.

Jamie Ling gave the Bombers (16-21-7) a 1-0 lead at the 10:15 mark of the first period. He won a face-off, then bursted to the net with the puck. He sent a shot past Johnstown goalie Peter Aubry for his eighth goal of the season and 499th point recorded in the East Coast Hockey League.

Chris M. Thompson scored his first goal of the game 2:38 later while the Bombers had the man-advantage on a surge toward the net from the right wing. Ben Knopp and Jason Crain assisted on the play.

After a scoreless second, Steve Hildenbrand cut the Bombers' lead to 2-1 at 6:31 of the third period right after he had come out of the penalty box. But Chris M. Thompson scored his second of the game and 13th of the season from the slot after receiving a centering pass from Ryan Vince.

Goalie Shane Bendera made 23 saves for the Dayton Bombers, who gained two points on each of the teams in the club's division.
