Mike Bisenius Joins X's

SIOUX CITY, IA - The Sioux City Explorers announced today that they have signed former Sioux City Bishop Heelan High School and Wayne State College product, Mike Bisenius to a 2012 American Association contract. Bisenius will be in uniform tonight when the X's open a 4 game series versus the Winnipeg Goldeyes here at Lewis & Clark Park. To make room on the roster, the club has released C Tyler Goodro.

As a senior at Wayne State, Bisenius, a 6-3 200 pound outfielder from Sioux City, Iowa, was a repeat First Team All-Central Region selection after posting a .314 batting average with 14 doubles, 3 triples, 10 homeruns, while collecting 44 RBI's in 45 games.

Bisenius led the Wildcats in home runs, runs scored (45), total bases (104) and walks (32). Bisenius finished the season tied for third in the NSIC in home runs, tied for fourth in walks, tied for fifth in triples (3), seventh in slugging percentage (.605), tied for ninth in RBI's and total bases (104) and 10th in runs scored.

For his efforts, Bisenius earned First Team All-NSIC honors for a second straight season and received his first NSIC Gold Glove honor after making just two errors from his right field position this season. He was also named to the NCBWA (National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association) All-Central Region Second Team this season.
