Grand Prairie 6, Newark 4 (Game 1 - 7 Innings)
After falling behind 4-1 after three innings, the Grand Prairie AirHogs scored a run in the fourth inning and four more in the fifth to rally past the Newark Bears, 6-4 in the first game of the doubleheader. Grand Prairie C Chris McMurray went 2-for-3 with a home run, two runs scored and a RBI. CF Keanon Simon and LF David Thomas also chipped in with two hits apiece with Thomas hitting his first home run of the season. AirHogs reliever Derrick Miramontes wins the game after tossing two scoreless innings allowing a walk while fanning one batter. For Newark in defeat, 1B Daryle Ward and CF Bryce Lane each had two hits.
Grand Prairie 8, Newark 0 (Game 2 - 7 Innings)
Grand Prairie completes the doubleheader sweep as the AirHogs shutout the Newark Bears, 8-0 in game two. Grand Prairie rolled out to a 6-0 lead after three innings and was in cruise control the rest of the way. AirHogs 1B Andres Rodriguez went 3-for-4 with a home run and four RBI and 3B Greg Porter had two hits with a run scored. C Zane Chavez also hit a grand slam in the third inning for Grand Prairie. AirHogs starter John Brownell pitched very well as he went seven innings giving up two walks and four hits and striking out seven Newark batters.
Laredo 6, El Paso 5
3B John Allen singled home SS Jimmy Mojica in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the Laredo Lemurs a 6-5 walk-off win over the El Paso Diablos. Allen had two hits with a run scored and two RBI while Mojica collected two hits and plated two runs. 2B Anthony Scelfo chipped with three hits and a stolen base for Laredo. Lemurs pitcher Chaz Roe notched the win in relief going 1 1/3 innings allowing a hit and striking out two. 2B Jimmy Rohan hit two home runs and drove in three for El Paso in the loss.
Sioux City 3, Winnipeg 2
Sioux City starting pitcher Jason Jarvis tosses a terrific game as the Explorers beat the Winnipeg Goldeyes, 3-2. Jarvis went seven strong innings giving up only an earned run on eight hits with a walk and a strikeout. With the victory, Jarvis is now 2-3 on the season. Sioux City scored single runs in the second, third and fifth innings and was led offensively by 3B Wally Backman who went 2-for-3 with a RBI. Winnipeg 2B Yurendell de Caster was a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate and drove in both runs.
Fargo-Moorhead at Lincoln (Postponed - Rain)
The game between Fargo-Moorhead and Lincoln was postponed due to rain. It will be made up as part of a doubleheader on Friday, June 15 beginning at 6:05 PM. Both games are scheduled for seven innings.
