Laredo Lemurs News Release
Laredo, TX - With the game tied at five and the bases load in the bottom of the ninth, John Allen hit a soft infield single to drive in the winning run from third, as the Laredo Lemurs (11-16) go on to win the first game of the series against the El Paso Diablos (6-21) at Uni-Trade Stadium 6-5.
The rally in the ninth got started for the Lemurs with a Jimmy Mojica single, followed by an Anthony Scelfo walk to put runners on first and second base. Then with Javier Brito at the plate, Lemurs
manager Pete Incaviglia put on the double steal with Mojica grabbing third and Scelfo cruising in at second. After the stolen base the Diablos intentionally walked Javier Brito to load the bases. John Allen took over from there to drive in the winning run.
Chaz Roe (1-2) earned his first win on the season as he went one and a third, giving up a hit and striking out two. Roe still holds onto his stealer ERA of 0.69 as he has only given up one earned run all season.
Todd Privett (1-1) got the start for the Lemurs going as he pitched six, giving up seven hits, and five runs, while striking out four batters and received no decision.
Anthony Scelfo pulled himself out of a little slump as he went three for four on the night with a walk.
The Laredo Lemurs are home through June 20th. You can get tickets at the Laredo Lemurs box office, online at www.laredolemurs.com, or by phone at 956-7LEMURS. All games at Uni-Trade Stadium are set for 7:30pm.
