Peoria Rivermen News Release

Peoria, IL (February 8, 2006) - Peoria Rivermen General Manager of Hockey Operations Kevin McDonald announced today that the Rivermen parent club St. Louis Blues of the National Hockey League (NHL) has reassigned defenseman Patrick Wellar (WEHL-uhr) from the Alaska Aces of the ECHL to Peoria, as well as reassigned goaltender Chris Beckford-Tseu (BEHK-fuhrd-SOO) from Peoria to Alaska. McDonald also announced that the Rivermen have recalled netminder Matt Underhill from his loan to the ECHL Alaska club.

Wellar, 22, rejoins the Rivermen after being sent to play with the Aces on the morning of Tuesday, February 7. So far this season with the Rivermen, the 6-3, 210-pound blueliner has appeared in four games and registered two minutes in penalties and one shot on goal. A product of Carrot River, Saskatchewan, Wellar has logged 30 games for the Aces in 2005-06, recording three goals, eight assists, a plus-11 rating, and 54 penalty minutes.

Beckford-Tseu, 21, concludes his third stint with the Rivermen this season without seeing any action for the team this time around. The 6-2, 201-pound goalie has a 1-1-0 record, a 4.76 goals-against average, and an .833 save percentage in three appearances for Peoria thus far this season. The Toronto native has already played in 16 games for the Alaska Aces of the ECHL this season, showing a record of 13-1-2, a goals-against average of 1.97, a save percentage of .926, and two shutouts.

Underhill, 26, returns to Peoria after having participated in the 2005-06 Rivermen pre-season training camp.
