Michael Davies and Matt Krug Assigned to Gwinnett

Forward Michael Davies and defenseman Matt Krug have been assigned to the Gwinnett Gladiators from the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League.

Davies set a career-high with 52 points (20 goals, 32 assists) in 41 games as a senior with the University of Wisconsin last season. His 52 points last year shared sixth in scoring in the NCAA. He ranked second on the Badgers with a career-best 20 goals and third with a career-high 32 assists.

The Chesterfield, Missouri, native made his professional debut in three Calder Cup playoff games with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the AHL after Wisconsin was defeated in the 2010 NCAA National Championship game. Davies earned 123 points (54 goals, 69 assists) and 122 penalty minutes in 155 career collegiate games with Wisconsin from 2006-10.

Krug earned 47 points (14 goals, 33 assists) in 75 games with the Muskegon Lumberjacks of the International Hockey League. He also recorded three points (two goals, one assist) in six playoff games. His 47 points led IHL defensemen in that category and his 14 goals shared tops among league defensemen.

The Southfield, Michigan, native posted 43 points (14 goals, 29 assists) in 134 career collegiate games with Wayne State University and Robert Morris University. He also appeared in one playoff game in the Central Hockey League with the Texas Brahmas following is final senior season at Robert Morris University.

The Gwinnett Gladiators open the 2010-11 season on the road before returning home to host the South Carolina Stingrays on Friday, October 22nd at 7:35 p.m. The Gladiators are the AA affiliate of the Atlanta Thrashers and play all home games at the 11,355-seat Arena at Gwinnett Center, located just off I-85 on Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth.
