
Carrozzi and Filangieri Added to Camp Roster

Goaltender Chris Carrozzi has been reassigned to the Gwinnett Gladiators from the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League by the Atlanta Thrashers of the National Hockey League. In addition, Tim Filangieri has been added to the Gladiators training camp roster while Gwinnett has released Ian Vigier, Levi Ling and Drew Baker from their professional tryout agreements.
Carrozzi, the Atlanta Thrashers sixth round selection with the 154th overall pick in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, was signed by Atlanta on May 19th. He was named the 2009-10 Canadian Hockey League and Ontario Hockey League Goaltender of the Year. With the Mississauga St. Michael's Majors, Carrozzi posted a 19-10-5 record with five shutouts, a 2.36 goals-against average and a .916 save percentage in 37 games.
The 6-3, 185-pound goaltender tied for the league-lead in shutouts and finished second in goals-against average and set a new career-high in goals-against average, save percentage and shutouts. He posted a 5-1-1 record with a 2.14 goals-against average and a .928 save percentage in eight playoff games last year and also earned the OHL Goaltender of the Week honors for the week ending March 28.
The Ottawa, Ontario, native has earned a 76-49-12 record in 156 career OHL games from 2006-2010, all with St. Michael's, earning a 2.92 goals-against average and a .908 save percentage and 11 shutouts over that span. Carrozzi has appeared in 14 OHL playoff games in his career with St. Michael's posting a record of 5-5-1 with a goals-against average of 3.08 and a save percentage of .899 with one shutout.
Filangieri earned three points, all assists, last year in his rookie campaign with Gwinnett. He also had 55 penalty minutes in 49 games for the Gladiators. In addition, he had one assist in 10 games in the American Hockey League with Chicago last year and was scoreless in one appearance with AHL Syracuse.
The Islip Terrace, New York, native joined AHL Syracuse following his senior season at Boston College in 2008-09 and played in one game for the Crunch. During his four year collegiate career, Filangieri earned 20 points (three goals, 17 assists) in 157 career collegiate games.
The Gwinnett Gladiators open the 2010-11 season on the road before returning home to host the South Carolina Stingrays on Friday, October 22nd at 7:35 p.m. The Gladiators are the AA affiliate of the Atlanta Thrashers and play all home games at the 11,355-seat Arena at Gwinnett Center, located just off I-85 on Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth.
