Meyer Dominates Legends in Suns' 9-4 Victory

Lexington, KY - The Hagerstown Suns (57-35) used one of Alex Meyer's best starts of the season to lead them to a 9-4 victory over the Lexington Legends (47-45) at Whitaker Bank Ballpark on Saturday night. With the win, Hagerstown moved one game ahead of Hickory and into sole possession of first place in the second half standings.

Meyer (7-4) delivered six shutout innings, allowing just four singles while striking out nine batters without allowing a walk. Wilson Eusebio gave up a four runs out of the bullpen, but Colin Bates (1) came in and pitched the next three innings without allowing a run to secure the win and a save.

Centerfielder Brian Goodwin went 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs, while Cutter Dykstra collected three hits (two doubles) and an RBI. Steven Souza, Jr. was 2-for-3 with two doubles and three RBIs.

Legends' starter Luis Perez (0-1) suffered the loss allowing five runs on six hits, three walks and six strike outs in four innings of work. Mike Kvasnicka and Justin Gomisnky each finished the night 2-for-4 with two RBIs.

The Suns and Lexington will play game two of the series on Sunday afternoon at 1:35 p.m. when RHP Chris McKenzie (2-2, 7.54) takes the mound against the Legends' RHP Michael Foltynewicz (10-2, 2.59).
