Mets to Recall Bisons C Rob Johnson, Option C Mike Nickeas to Herd

The New York Mets today announced that they will recall Bisons C ROB JOHNSON before their game against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Thursday, July 26. The club also announced that they have optioned C MIKE NICKEAS to the Bisons.

The Mets/Diamondbacks game on Thursday will also be the major league debut of Bisons All-Star Matt Harvey (9:40 p.m.).

Johnson played 45 games with the Bisons this season and averaged .207 (34-164) with seven doubles, one triple, four home runs and 15RBI. He threw out 24% of would-be base stealers (9CS, 37ATT). Bisons pitchers were 22-23 with a 3.84ERA with Johnson behind the plate.

Nickeas has spent the entire 2012 season with the Mets. In 42 games, the catcher has hit .168 (17-101) with three doubles, one home run and 13 runs driven in. This will be the fourth consecutive season Nickeas has been with the Herd. In 69 total games as a Bison, he has hit .207 (42-202) with 10 doubles, two home runs and 15RBI.
