Buffalo Bisons News Release

The Buffalo Bisons today announced that New York Mets' RHP RYOTA IGARASHI has joined the Herd on an injury rehab assignment. The reliever is expected to pitch for the Herd in Thursday's and Friday's games against the Charlotte Knights.

Igarashi, 30, was placed on the Mets Disabled List on April 21 with a moderate injury to his left hamstring. The righty began his rehab assignment on May 15 with the Single-A St. Lucie Mets of the Florida State League. In two outings, Igarashi posted a 6.75ERA (2.2IP, 5H, 2R, 2ER, 2K).

In seven appearances with New York prior to the injury, the reliever was 0-0 with a 1.35ERA (6.2IP, 3H, R, ER, 4BB, 3K).

The Mets signed Igarashi this off-season after the pitcher had spent his entire 11-year career with the Yakult Swallows of Japanese Central League. In 507 career appearances (all relief), Igarashi was 47-29 with a 3.25ERA and 54 saves (570.0IP, 630K).
