The New York Mets today announced that they have recalled Buffalo Bisons INF ZACH LUTZ. This will be Lutz's first stint in the major leagues.

The Mets had a roster post open after placing OF Jason Bay on the disabled list.

Lutz played 19 games with the Bisons this season and hit .333 (21-63) with five doubles, three home runs and 10RBI. He ranked second on the club in average, extra-base hits and RBI. He hit two home runs on the Bisons Home Opener, April 11 vs. Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Lutz spent all of 2011 with the Bisons and hit .295 (65-220) with 12 doubles, 11 home runs and 31RBI in 61 games. He was limited to 61 games because of four stints on the disabled list.

Lutz was the Mets 5th round draft pick in 2007.
