St. Lucie Mets News Release

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. - It was another offensive explosion for the St. Lucie Mets on Wednesday night. They rebounded from Tuesday's difficult loss to dominate the Charlotte Stone Crabs 13-2 at Charlotte Sports Park.

Wuilmer Becerra went 5 for 5 with a double, four singles, two runs scored and a RBI. He became the first Met this season with a five-hit game.

Jhoan Urena collected his third straight three-hit game and he drove in five runs.

The Mets have 52 hits and 39 runs in their last three games.

Starter P.J. Conlon earned his first FSL victory. He limited the Crabs to two runs - both scoring on sac flies - in 7.2 innings. He scattered five hits and struck out four.

Once again the Mets got off to a hot start. Kevin Taylor hit a towering two-run homer in the first inning with two outs. Urena's sac fly in the second plated Becerra to make it 3-0.

The Mets broke the game open with five runs in the fourth inning. Urena belted a RBI triple and John Mora hit a two-run single with the bases loaded. With two outs, Jonathan Johnson got into a rundown at third base, but an errant throw from catcher Armando Araiza went into left field allowing Johnson and Mora to score and make it 8-0.

Run-scoring singles by Urena and Johnson in the seventh made it 10-0. At that point the Stone Crabs used position players Jace Conrad and Grant Kay to finish out the game. The duo limited the Mets to three runs over the final 2.2 innings.

Champ Stuart reached base four times and stole two bases. He scored twice. Mora went 3 for 6 and drove in two.

Michael Katz doubled twice and walked.

Next Up: The Mets (38-36, 3-4) and Stone Crabs (36-40, 3-4) conclude their three-game series at Charlotte Sports Park on Thursday at 6:35 p.m. The red hot Mets offense will square off against Brent Honeywell, the top pitching prospect in the FSL.
