Binghamton Rumble Ponies News Release
As the 2008 regular season winds down to its final 10 days, the Binghamton Mets look forward to the 18th campaign in franchise history with the announcement of the 2009 schedule of home games. The action begins at NYSEG Stadium with the home opener on Thursday, April 16th at 6:35 pm when the Portland Sea Dogs play the first of 71 scheduled games in the Southern Tier. April 16th marks the latest home opener on the calendar since the B-Mets inaugural 1992 season.
Fans can spend the holidays like Memorial Day, Father's Day, Independence Day & Labor Day cheering on their hometown team. Father's Day weekend (June 19-21) represents the third and final visit by the Trenton Thunder, the New York Yankees Double-A Minor League club. Division-rival Portland, the Red Sox farm team, also visits Binghamton for three different series.
Monday thru Thursday home games will be scheduled to start at 6:35 pm through the end of May with the following exceptions: May 25th (Memorial Day) 1:05 pm & May 28th (Baseball in Education Day #1) 10:35 am. Once June arrives, weeknight games shift to 7:05 pm. The only variations to weekday game times the rest of the season fall on June 11th (Baseball in Education Day #2) 10:35 am, July 6th (Super Splash Day) 1:05 pm & September 7th (Regular Season Finale on Labor Day) 1:05 pm.
Fridays throughout the year will begin at 7:05 pm, and Saturday games from May 16th onward will start at 7:05 pm (April 18th & May 2nd slated for 1:05 pm). Outside of May 24th (Memorial Day Eve) at 6:35 pm, Sunday home games in the season's first four months will commence at 1:05 pm. In August & September, the 1st pitch for the three scheduled, Sunday home dates will occur at 6:35 pm.
