
Eastern League All Stars Announced

Harrisburg, PA - The Eastern League All-Star team was selected on Wednesday with no Senators on the 13-man post-season All-Star team. In July, three Senators were picked to play in the EL All-Star Game in New Hampshire.
Six of the 12 Eastern League teams did not have an All-Star selected from their rosters: Trenton, Portland, Connecticut, New Britain, Altoona and Harrisburg.
In July, three Senators were selected to play in the Eastern League All-Star Game in Manchester, New Hampshire: RHPs Bobby Brownlie and Jordan Zimmermann, along with OF Mike Daniel.
Bowie OF Lou Montanez headlined the All-Star selections. At the time the team was announced, Montanez was in line to become the first EL Triple Crown winner since 1976. He hit .335 with 26 home runs and 97 RBIs with the Baysox before a promotion to the Baltimore Orioles on August 5th. Montanez hit a home run in his first major-league at-bat. He was selected third overall by the Cubs in the 2000 draft.
Baysox RHP Brad Bergesen, selected as the Eastern League All-Star right-handed pitcher, carried a 15-4 record and a 3.00 ERA entering play on Thursday. Binghamton RHP Eddie Kunz and utility player Daniel Murphy were both named to the All-Star team and both have recently made successful major-league debuts the New York Mets.

The Senators open a three-game weekend series tonight at Commerce Bank Park. They host the Portland Sea Dogs (Double-A Boston Red Sox) with first pitch slated for 6:35 PM.
