Up Next vs. D.C. and Freddy Adu: The MetroStars will face their arch-rival D.C. United and 14-year-old phenom Freddy Adu on Saturday, April 17 at 4:00 p.m. ET at Giants Stadium (TV: ESPN2; Radio: WADO 1280 AM). The Metros enjoyed the weekend off after defeating the Columbus Crew 3-1 on opening weekend on April 3, while D.C. played to a 1-1 tie with the Los Angeles Galaxy at the Home Depot Center on Saturday.

MetroStars U-19s Drop Dallas Cup Final: The MetroStars U-19 team lost to Hartlepool United (England) 4-1 in the Dallas Cup Final on Sunday evening. The loss was the first of the tournament for the "Mini-Metros," who earned an impressive 5-1 record under Head Coach Stan Lembryk and Assistant Coach Paul O'Donnell in the team's first-ever appearance at the prestigious youth tournament.

The game was tied 1-1 at the half after Pino Tubito got the MetroStars on the board. Hartlepool scored the go-ahead goal in the 73rd minute and the "Mini-Metros" pressed forward for the equalizer. The English squad scored two late goals to put the game out of reach as the MetroStars continued to barrage the Hartlepool goalkeeper with shots.

"We are very proud of the job Stan and Paul have done with the Under-19 team," said MetroStars Cheif Operating Officer Tom Neale, who oversees the youth development program. "The accomplishments the team earned in the Dallas Cup are impressive and shows the commitment the organization has to developing high quality local youth players on and off the field, who we hope will one day play for the MetroStars."

The U-19s earned a trip to the final after defeating Universidad de Monterray (Mexico) in the quarterfinals in a penalty kick tiebreaker, 3-2, after the contest ended in a 2-2 draw last Friday. The squad then defeated Ruckus (Santa Clara, California) 2-1 in the semifinals to advance to the final.

The Metros Under-19 won Bracket G of Group A U-19, with three dominating performances. On Monday, April 12th the young Metros defeated the Texas Heat 4-0, then on Tuesday they followed the performance with a 5-1 win over Jackson F.C. of Mississippi, finally the MetroStars wrapped up the group by beating the Brampton Rangers (Canada) 5-0 on Wednesday. The Metros ended the group with a plus 13 goal differential.

During the tournament, the MetroStars received goals from Pino Tubito (6), Carlos Salazar (3), Erhan Zekiroski (3), Fernando Londono (2), Andi Saliasi (2), Christian Acuna (1), and Yomar Gonzalez (1). The average age of the U-19 team is 17, which includes four 16-year-old players.

Guevara Earns 79: MetroStars midfielder Amado Guevara started for the Honduras National Team in a 0-0 tie with Panama last week in La Ceiba, Honduras. Guevara is the all-time appearance leader for Honduras with 79 caps, adding 15 goals for Bora Milutinovic's squad. "El Lobo" made his debut for the nation on May 5, 1994, in a 2-1 win over Peru in Miami, FL.

Bradley and Gaven Summoned for U.S. U-20s: MetroStars midfielders Michael Bradley and Eddie Gaven have been called-up to the United States Under-20 National Team by Manager Thomas Rongen for the teams upcoming training camp from April 18 through the 25th in Sunrise, Florida. The U-20s will face the Jamaican Under-20 squad and the Haitian Under-20 team in friendly contests during the camp.

Parke Ranger: The MetroStars acquired defender Jeff Parke with the last selection in the 2004 MLS SuperDraft (60th overall selection and 10th in the sixth round). The Drexel University product has burst onto the Metros' roster and became the lowest selection in MLS SuperDraft history to start and play 90 minutes in a season opener on April 3 in a 3-1 win at Columbus. Parke was also one of two rookies to play the entire game on opening day as Colorado's Gary Sullivan was the other.
