Quad Cities River Bandits News Release
The Minnesota Twins Monday activated Quad City River Bandits infielder Jesus Merchan from the disabled list. Merchan had missed most of the first month of the season with a sprained left knee after being involved in a collision while trying to turn a double play on April 10. In four games in early April, Merchan had gone 1-for-9 with three walks and a strikeout. One of the top players returning from the 2002 River Bandits, Merchan went .279 with 3 home runs and 31 RBI.
To make room for Merchan, the Twins placed catcher Josh Johnson on the disabled list with a lower left leg contusion. Johnson has played eleven games this season, and is batting .138 (4-for-29).
