Meneses Homers for the Second Straight Game as 'Dogs Win 6-2

Portland, Maine - Joey Meneses homered for the second consecutive game extending his streak to ten games as the Portland Sea Dogs (30-23) defeated the Hartford Yard Goats (18-37) 6-2 Wednesday night at Hadlock Field before a crowd of 4,098.

The Sea Dogs jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead in the first inning when Meneses connected for his ninth home run of the season...a three-run homer that went 417 feet to left-center field off the Hannaford sign that left the bat at 110 MPH. Meneses went 2-for-4 on the night and raised his team-high batting average to .313.

Pedro Castellanos went 3-for-4 including RBI singles in both the second and fourth innings. Castellanos raised his season average to .301 and is now hitting .471 (8-for-17) in July.

Brayan Bello, the Red Sox No. 19 ranked prospect according to Baseball America, got the start for the Sea Dogs. Bello, whom earlier this week was selected to participate in this Sunday's MLB Futures Game in Colorado, tossed two shutout innings holding the Yard Goats to one hit. He struck out three and walked one before giving way to Matthew Kent.

Elehuris Montero hit two home runs for the Yard Goats. A solo home run in the fourth inning off Kent and a home run into the Gifford's Pavilion in right field in the ninth inning with two outs off Durbin Feltman.

Denyi Reyes (3-1) picked up the win for the Sea Dogs tossing three shutout innings in relief holding Hartford to one hit and recording a strikeout.

The Sea Dogs and Yard Goats continue the series Thursday night at 6:00 PM. The Sea Dogs will send righty Andrew Politi (1-7, 7.52) to the mound. He will be opposed by Hartford righty Karl Kauffman (0-6, 11.30). Radio coverage on the WPEI Sea Dogs Radio Network, built by General Dynamics/ Bath Iron Works, begins at 5:45 PM.
