
Memphis 901 FC Picks up Third-Straight Win

LEESBURG, Virginia - For the third-straight match Memphis 901 FC found itself trailing early, and for the third-straight match the club rallied and picked up a win, this time 2-1 at Loudoun United FC Friday night in Leesburg, Va.
Memphis 901 FC (7-13-7, 28 pts) allowed a goal in the 5th minute, and the match remained 1-0 in favor of Loudoun (6-14-6, 24 pts) until almost 20 minutes into the second half. 901 FC got on the scoreboard in the 63rd minute thanks to an own-goal, with Ewan Grandison and Elliot Collier putting pressure on the Loudoun defense leading to the score.
Memphis took the lead in the 81st minute as Lagos Kunga, on as a substitute in the 68th minute, played a ball beautifully in front of the net to Brandon Allen, who put home his seventh goal of the season.
In Memphis' six recent matches in which it has scored a total of 13 goals, Allen has six of those. He has three scores in the last two matches.
Before its current rally-filled three-match winning streak, 901 FC was 0-11-2 when conceding the first goal in a match.
The 901 FC defense locked in down the stretch to secure the win, including an on-target attempt from outside the box and a header missed to the left of the goal.
Through Friday's matches, 901 FC has risen to 12th place in the USL Championship Eastern Conference, two spots and eight points behind 10th place Birmingham Legion FC at the playoff line.
901 FC now returns to AutoZone Park for three-straight matches against Saint Louis FC (Sept. 21), Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC (Sept. 24), and Bethlehem Steel FC (Sept. 28) to close the month of September.
