Reno 1868 FC News Release
RENO, Nev. - Fresh off of a dominant 5-0 victory at home on Tuesday night, Reno 1868 FC will be in action this Sunday, taking on Austin Bold FC in a pivotal matchup with playoff seeding implications.
Reno sits in third in the USL's Western Conference with 47 points, while Austin sits in fifth with 40. The top four seeds in the conference are guaranteed to host at least one playoff match, with the top 10 teams reaching the postseason.
On Tuesday, Reno snapped a four-match losing streak with an emphatic 5-0 win. The night was led by forward Danny Musovski scoring four goals, breaking a franchise record. All four goals came in the first half, where Musovski earned an assist as well.
Austin is coming off of a 2-1 home loss to Sacramento Republic FC, just the club's third home loss of the season. Austin is 9-3-3 at home this season, while Reno is 6-5-2 on the road.
With six matches left this season, Reno is closing in on a piece of league history as well. Only five clubs have made the playoffs in each of their first three seasons, and of those five only one came from the western conference. Reno has also earned 47 wins over its first three years, closing in on FC Cincinnati's league-record 51 wins. Cincinnati is the only team to have crossed the 50-win threshold.
Reno's 47 wins are the third most all-time for a club's first three regular seasons, trailing just Cincinnati's 51 and Louisville City's 49. Both totals are within reach for the boys in blue.
Kickoff from Austin is set for 4:00 p.m. PT, the match will be streamed on ESPN+.
