September 13, 2019 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Charlotte Independence News Release

Charlotte (NC) - The Charlotte Independence professional soccer team announced defender Joel Johnson will miss approximately 10 weeks due to a left foot injury, broken second metatarsal, sustained in his appearance with the Liberian National Team this past week.

Johnson, 26, has made 111 USL Championship appearances since joining the Independence in 2016. A stalwart on the backline, the outside back is the only player to eclipse the 2,000 minute mark each of the last four seasons.

The Independence will continue in USL Championship action this Friday, September 13th as the teams travels to MSU Soccer Park to take on Eastern Conference leaders New York Red Bulls II. The official watch party will be hosted at Jack's House Soccer Bar and Event Space (1523 Elizabeth Ave. Suite 120, Charlotte, NC 28204). Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 PM ET.
