Memphis 901 FC News Release
MEMPHIS, Tennessee - Beautiful weather will welcome the beautiful game back to AutoZone Park Saturday as Memphis 901 FC hosts Loudoun United FC in an Eastern Conference clash.
Kickoff for Saturday's match is slated for 7:00 p.m. with clear skies and favorable temperatures in the forecast.
Memphis 901 FC (0-1-0, 0 pts) will be looking for the first win in club history after falling 1-0 in its inaugural match to the Tampa Bay Rowdies.
Despite the loss, a Memphis squad that's been together for just over a month showed signs of progress. Goalkeeper Jeff Caldwell didn't concede a goal in open play and came up with two acrobatic saves in his pro debut.
The stat of the night came off the pitch as the 8,062 fans inside AutoZone Park helped record the first sellout in club history.
Memphis will now face fellow newcomer Loudoun United FC (0-1-0, 0 pts), a team coming off a 2-0 loss to Nashville SC.
Loudoun boasts a roster mixed with USL Championship veterans and loanees from Major League Soccer's D.C. United.
Although the club was shut-out in the first week, Loudoun has already shown the ability to create multiple chances on goal.
Midfielder Antonio Bustamante already ranks third among top chance creators in the league with four in the opening weekend.
Veteran striker Kyle Murphy is also poised to be a threat for the upstart club this season.
The AutoZone Park plaza will open at 4:30 p.m. Saturday complete with music, games and activities. Beer, soda and water will also be available for purchase.
Single match tickets for Saturday night's match and all home matches in March and April are now on sale.
Season tickets, group tickets, and 7 Match Flex Plans are also available, with full season tickets starting at just $10 per match. Call (901) 721-6000 or go to www.memphis901fc.com/tickets for more information on all ticket options.
