RHP Ryan Buch (0-0, 1.50) vs. LHP Danny Rosenbaum (2-2, 2.91)

KO'd in K-Town: The Indians scored three times in the bottom of the seventh en route to beating the Dash 5-2 on Saturday night at Grainger Stadium. Kinston scored the last five runs of the game after falling behind 2-0 in the second inning on Nick Ciolli's sixth home run of the season, a two run shot. Adam Abraham tied things up with a two-run homer of his own in the bottom of the inning. The Indians took the lead for good in the seventh with an RBI ground-rule double by Bo Greenwell and an error that led to two more runs. With the victory, Kinston won the three-game series.

Road Trip Recap: Winston-Salem finished its six-game road trip to Lynchburg and Kinston with a 2-4 record. Three of the team's losses were by just one run while the fourth was a three-run defeat. The Dash outscored their opponents 29-26 on the trip despite being outhit .226 to .249. Winston experienced a power boost on the trip, blasting ten home runs in the last four games.

Nationals Emergency: For the second time in as many home stands, the Dash welcome an opponent on a lengthy losing streak to BB&T Ballpark. Potomac has lost eight consecutive games, including the last seven at home. The P-Nats are coming off back-to-back doubleheader sweeps at the hands of the Lynchburg Hillcats at Pfitzner Stadium, getting outscored 25-11. Five of the eight straight losses for the Nationals have been by three runs or less. Just over a week ago, the Salem Red Sox came to BB&T Ballpark on a seven-game losing streak, all of those games at home. A road trip did not seem to faze the Sox, as they snapped their skid by winning two of three in the weekend series at Winston-Salem.

Wilk Dud: Andy Wilkins' streak of three straight games with a home run ended Saturday night. The streak was the first for Wilkins in his two-year professional career and it launched him into a tie for fifth place in home runs in the Carolina League. Despite the power surge ending, Wilkins remained productive for the Dash in the series finale at Kinston; he went 1 for three with a walk and a runs scored. Over his current seven-game hit streak, Wilkins has three homers, three doubles, eight RBI, six runs scored, and four walks.

Keepin' it Rienzo: Andre Rienzo came close to picking up his third consecutive quality start after allowing two runs in five innings on Saturday. Over his last three starts, he has given up just four runs in 17 innings. The Brazilian has picked up in the Carolina League where he left off in the South Atlantic League last season. In his last ten starts for low-A Kannapolis, Rienzo did not allow more than two earned runs in any of his last ten starts. He has allowed two earned runs or fewer in eight of his first nine starts as a member of the Dash, making his ERA 1.95 (24 ER, 110.2 IP) in his last 19 starts dating back to last season.

Three's a Crowd: Three Dash hitters carried six-game hitting streaks into Saturday game and two came out with their streaks intact. Nick Ciolli (.296, 8 for 27) and Andy Wilkins (.440, 11 for 25) now have seven game hit streaks while Tyler Saladino saw his streak end at six games after going 0 for 4. Ciolli's streak is a season-high while Wilkins is a game away from matching his best streak of the season.

Get Outta Here: With another home run on Saturday night, the Dash extended their league-leading homer total to 47 on the season. Winston-Salem has hit ten more longballs than its closes competition (Salem and Lynchburg with 37) and more than double than last place Kinston (21). The Dash led the Carolina League in dingers last year with 112 and the team is on pace to blast 134 in 2011.

Keeping ‚¬Ëœem Close: The Dash have played mostly close games this season. Thirty-nine of the team's 49 games have been decided by three runs or fewer and the team has had a lead in 37 games this season. Winston has played 19 one-run games and 13 two-run games. The Dash are 8-11 in one-run games and 6-7 in two run contests. At this rate, the Dash would play 91 one - or two-run games this season.

Espresso Shot: Jose Martinez went 2 for 4 Saturday night and upped his league-leading batting average to .328, 15 points higher than Salem's Reynaldo Rodriguez. He is tied for third in games (48), second in at bats (186), first in hits (61), and fifth in runs scored (31).

Who's Your Gac Daddy': Ian Gac ended his 33-at bat homerless drought in the first inning Friday night with his league-leading 14th home run of the season. It was Gac's 141st career home run and his fifth in nine games against the K-Tribe. He has 12 RBI against the Indians this season, nearly one-third of Winston's 41 versus Kinston in 2011. Gac is on pace for a 40-home run season which would demolish his previous career-high of 22, a number he reached while playing for Bakersfield in 2009. Gac is first in the CL in RBI (35), tied for first in games (49), fourth in at bats (182), third in slugging percentage (.555), tied for first in extra-base hits (26), first in runs scored (37), first in total bases (101), and first in best HR/AB ratio (1/13.00).

Today's Opposing Starter: LHP Danny Rosenbaum (2-2, 2.91) makes his tenth start of the season and his first this year against the Dash. He started game one of last year's Mills Cup Championship Series against Winston-Salem and took the loss, allowing one run on six hits in 4.1 innings. This season, he's had only one start in which he has allowed more than three earned runs. In 2010, Rosenbaum went 3-2 with a 2.09 ERA for the Nationals in eight regular season appearances (seven starts). He pitched very well for the P-Nats, never allowing more than three runs in any start. He made his first 18 starts of last season for low-A Hagerstown and went 2-5 with a 2.32 ERA, earning a spot on the South Atlantic League North Division All-Star Team. The lefty was drafted in the 22nd round in 2009 by Washington after spending the two previous seasons at Xavier University, where he was a college teammate of former Dash pitcher Charlie Leesman. Last year, Rosenbaum went 4-1 with a 1.95 ERA in 11 games (eight starts) for the GCL Nationals. At Xavier, he helped the Musketeers win the Atlantic-10 Championship and earn the school's first NCAA tournament bid in 2009. He spent one season at Indiana University before transferring to Xavier. Rosenbaum did not start pitching until his freshman year of high school and finally blossomed in his senior season, when he went 5-0 with a school-record 0.77 ERA and 36 strikeouts in 25 innings. He throws a fastball 88-92 mph with some cut and sinking movement as well as a slider and a changeup that he started developing this season. Rosenbaum's home town of Loveland, Ohio is the same as former Cincinnati Reds first baseman Todd Benzinger and former Cincinnati mayor and talk show host Jerry Springer.
