Victoria Seals News Release

Victoria, BC - The Victoria Seals are proud to announce that they have signed Victoria native Kyle Orr (INF) ahead of Friday night's series opener in Calgary. The Lambrick Park High School graduate is set to begin his fourth professional season and first in the Golden Baseball League.

"I'm really excited to see if Kyle can walk onto our club and start contributing," said Seals Field Manager Kip Gross. "He is a highly regarded player in this town, and hopefully he can make an impact in our lineup."

The 21-year-old joins the Seals following his release from the L.A. Dodgers organization earlier this week. Since being selected in the fourth round (113th overall) of the 2006 MLB Entry Draft, Orr has spent the past two seasons with the Ogden Raptors following his professional debut in the Gulf Coast League in 2007. Over the course of 133 minor league games, the 6'5" first basemen has posted 66 hits to go with 11 home runs and 70 runs batted in.

"This is a great chance for me to play in my hometown in front of my family and friends, while also continuing my career in baseball," said Orr.

The Seals open up a quick three-game set against the Calgary Vipers at Foothills Stadium tonight, a 6:00 p.m. (PT) start time. The contest will be broadcast live at www.victoriaseals.ca.

Victoria will then return home for Fireworks Night at Royal Athletic Park on June 30, ahead of a Canada Day matinee on July 1 against the Cimarrones de Tijuana. Single game and season tickets for the 2010 campaign are now on sale, available through the Victoria Seals office. Call (250) 220-7777 for more information, or to book your seat today!
