Toros Shutout By Maui 5-0

Tucson, AZ - The Tucson Toros were shutout by the Southern Division leading Maui Na Koa Ikaika in a 5-0 loss on Friday. Maui starting pitcher Jason Mackintosh pitched a complete game shutout improving to 4-0.

Tucson's starter Albie Lopez got off to a rocky start giving up 3 early runs the first two innings. The righty received his third loss of the season, throwing 6 innings while allowing 5 runs (4 earned) and striking out 7.

Reliever Jesse Orosco Jr. made his Toros debut, throwing one scoreless inning, allowing one hit and striking out one. He is the son of former Major League pitcher Jesse Orosco, who pitched 24 seasons in the majors and holds the Major League all-time record with most games pitched with .

Three different Tucson players had multi-hit nights, with three base hits from both First Baseman Cristobal Santana and Shortstop Ryan Priddy. Third baseman Wally Backman Jr, chipped in 2 hits of his own.

The Toros hit streaks continue with the strong performances by Santana and Priddy. Santana extended his streak to 10 straight games, while Priddy's hit streak now sits at 7 games.

Tucson will take on Maui in game two of the three game series on Free Souvenir Saturday, with a 7:00 p.m. first pitch. The game can be heard live on COOL 1450 AM or video streaming over the Internet at www.tucsontoros.com.
