Edmonton Capitals News Release
St. George, UT - A travel day and a big roster shake up didn't seem to phase the Edmonton Capitals at all as they started a three game series in St. George Utah. The team said goodbye to four players and made room for four new acquisitions and proceeded to pound the RoadRunners 12 - 6 Friday night in the desert. It was quite a day for a number of players including starting pitcher Lou Pote who struck out eight batters in six innings of work and contributed offensively with a 2 for 4 night at the plate with a run scored to help his cause. Centre fielder Ryan Stevenson was even more impressive with a 3 for 6 effort plus three RBI. Catcher Josh Tarnow hit a pair of home runs with four RBI and Cliff Brumbaugh also went deep for the Caps. The new Capitals made an immediate impact with their new club. Shortstop Enrique Cruz walked, reached base on an error and belted a double in his Edmonton debut. Third basemen Alex Prieto, who just hopped on the bus and left his previous team in Chico, scored a pair of runs for the Caps while the other former Chico Outlaw, Jesse Oster, pitched a couple of innings coming out of the bullpen.
That's a modest two game winning streak for the Capitals who improve their record to 16 - 14 and are now seven games back of division leading Chico. The series resumes in St. George Saturday and Sunday. Edmonton will return to the province of Alberta for a pair of games in Calgary before returning home July 1st. The next home game will be an all-Canadian matchup against the Vipers at TELUS Field on Canada Day. Make sure your First of July plans include the Caps game and then stay after for a great seat to watch the City of Edmonton's fireworks show. It also happens to be a 4 for $44 Thursday featuring 4 reserved grandstand tickets, 4 hot dogs, and 4 Pepsi for just $44.
The Edmonton Capitals are Edmonton's first choice for professional baseball and family entertainment. Capitals season seats start at under $9 per game and are still on sale pro-rated to the end of the season. Individual game tickets are available for just $10 every game. Tickets are available at all Ticketmaster locations, the TELUS Field Box Office during regular business hours, at (780) 414-GOAL (4625) or online at capsbaseball.ca.
