Madison, Wis. - The Stars exploded for a 6-1 win against the Madison Capitols on Friday in the Alliant Energy Center.

The six-goal output marked the most goals the Stars have scored in a single game this season and moved them to 5-5-0.

The Stars took the lead five minutes into the first period when Ethen Frank broke down the right boards and slipped a cross-ice pass for Dominick Mersch who sent a one-timer past Capitols goalie Daniel Lebedeff for his third goal of the season.

Madison found the equalizer on their only power play of the period, but the 1-1 score wouldn't hold for long as Brandon Schultz and Henry Bowlby helped the Stars regain the lead before the end of the period.

At 16:20 of the first, Schultz fired a shot that bounced off the post and hit Lebedeff's back before Bowlby smacked it out of the air to make it 2-1. The goal marked Bowlby's third of the season and the eventual game winner.

Justin Richards stretched the Stars lead in the second with his third career goal, then Bowlby added another at 10:11 of the period with a quick snap shot from the hashmarks that chased Lebedeff from the game.

Casey Dornbach and Gustaf Westlund both scored in the third for their first USHL goals. Frank finished with four assists.

The Stars finished 2/3 on the power play and 3/4 on the penalty kill.

Stars goalie Cayden Primeau left after the first period with eight saves. Josef Korenar made 19 saves in replacement. Primeau was feeling ill, Stars coach Chris Hartsburg said after the game.
