Mechanics' third period rally completed with 5-4 shootout win

FRASER, MI-The Mechanics mounted a third period comeback and won the game in a shootout by a score of 5-4 tonight at the Great Lakes Sports City Superior Arena.
Brent Gretzky and David Herring gave the Mechanics a two goal lead just 12:02 into the first period, however the Generals would respond with four of their own to take a 4-2 lead into the third period.
In the third period the Mechanics scored twice to tie when Adam Edinger and Matt Smith scored. The game ended with a 4-4 regulation tie and both teams headed to the shootout.
In the shootout Chris Gignac and Malcolm Hutt scored for their respective teams and that lead to the dramatic finish. Kris Vernarsky had the game on his stick and buried the shot past the Flint goaltender to complete the comeback.
Rod Branch made his 58th start and made 21 saves for his 30th win of the season.
