After a scoreless first period in which the Hogs held the Vipers to a club-record one shot on goal, Rockford came out strong in the second to take a 3-0 lead. Barber fired home his 20th goal of the season on the power-play at 2:51 for the 1-0 lead. The lead was then extended to 3-0 when rookie Chaz Johnson beat Ridler at 7:10. Roanoke hopped on the board with a power-play goal from Sean Strake, deflecting the marker in at 12:00. The IceHogs got the goal back, however, with a snipe from center Olivier Proulx at 18:33.

In the third period the Vipers and Hogs traded goals. Defenseman Travis Smith cut the Rockford lead down to 4-2 with a power-play blast at 2:41. Rookie center Yannick Tifu then put Rockford back on top by three goals with a marker at 5:12. Starke then netted his second of the evening at 8:00 before Barber completed the scoring and his hat trick with a pair of (10:36 and 17:34).

Rockford out shot Roanoke 33-15 in the contest and finished the contest 3-for-4 on the power-play while the Vipers were 2-for-7. Vogel earned the win making 12 saves while Ridler 26 saves in the loss. Rockford completed its seven-game road swing 4-3.
