Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp News Release

Suns outfielder Tydus Meadows was named the BC Powder Southern League Hitter of the Week for the week of May 29 - June 4. Meadows carried a hot bat to Jacksonville, hitting .450 with a double, 3 home runs, 9 RBI, a .593 on-base percentage and a .950 slugging percentage to earn the honors. Meadows, who joined the Suns on May 28, enjoyed two multi-hit games last week, including a 5-for-5 performance on May 31 in which he hit a home run and drove in two runs. On June 1 at Montgomery, he hit his second home run of the week in the seventh inning to break the 1-1 tie and lead Jacksonville to a 5-1 victory.

Meadows ended the week in impressive style, hitting a grand slam June 4 against Mobile to give the Suns a 5-4 lead in their eventual 13-5 victory. The South Division-leading Suns currently own a 6-game winning streak and have been victorious in 14 of their last 15 games.

The 28-year-old Milledgeville, GA native was a key member of last season's Southern League Championship team. Meadows was signed as a free agent by the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2004.
