BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Birmingham Barons defeated the Huntsville Stars by the score of 4-2 on Monday evening, June 5th, in Southern League action at Hoover Metropolitan Stadium.

Birmingham starter Corwin Malone (7.0 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 4 K) allowed just one earned run in seven innings of work to pick up the victory and improve his record to 5-4. Gustavo Molina went 2-for-3 with two RBI while Micah Schnurstein went 2-for-4 to extend his current hitting streak to nine games. Ehren Wassermann tossed a scoreless ninth to earn his ninth save of the season as the Barons (25-34) snapped a three-game losing streak.

Callix Crabbe and Adam Heether each had two hits for the Stars (23-34) as starter Carlos Villanueva (5.0 IP, 8 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 1 BB, 4 K) saw his record to 4-5..

Birmingham will conclude its five-game series with the Stars on Tuesday evening, June 6th, with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m. LHP Jeff Housman (1-2, 2.45 ERA) is listed as the probable starter for Huntsville, while LHP Ryan Rodriguez (2-6, 5.40 ERA) is scheduled to take the mound for the Barons.
