Jackson, TN (June 6th)- In one of the fastest nine inning games played this season, the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx got a home run from Chris Walker accounting for the only run of the night as the Diamond Jaxx shutout the Smokies 1-0. The game took just an hour and fifty two minutes to play.

Randy Wells (3-2) tossed seven shutout innings to pick up the win. He allowed five hits while striking out seven. Wells, who came into the game with a 1.31 ERA, picked up enough innings to put himself in first place in the Southern League with a 1.12 ERA. Clay Rapada pitched two perfect innings out of the bullpen to nail down his seventeenth save of the season.

Matt Chico was the tough luck loser for the Smokies. Chico (1-1) allowed one run on just two hits over seven innings of work. Dustin Glant pitched one perfect inning in relief. The lone run of the night was a two out, third inning solo homerun over the left field wall by Chris Walker, his first of the season.

The Diamond Jaxx, who remain 1.5 games behind Chattanooga in the Northern Division, open up a five game series against the Birmingham Barons on Wednesday night at 7:05 CDT. Left-hander J.R. Mathes (5-4 3.59) gets the start for the Diamond Jaxx. Birmingham will counter with righty Ray Liotta (1-6 3.53).
