
McLeod and Moscato Called up for Canada WNT Friendly

Chicago, Il. (June 11, 2013) - Canada WNT has announced its 18-player roster for the upcoming Women's International Friendly against Germany in Paderborn, Germany on June 19 (6 p.m. local kick-off), which includes Chicago goalkeeper Erin McLeod and defender Carmelina Moscato .
McLeod and Moscato will be absent from the next three Red Stars games, when Chicago will play FC Kansas City twice and WNY Flash once. The training camp will begin Wednesday in Paderborn, Germany and will continue until the game on June 19 th .
Defender Rachel Quon, who joined the Canadians for the friendly vs. the US in Toronto, will remain with the Red Stars for NWSL league play.
The last time McLeod and Moscato played with the Canadian team, the top-ranked USA were able to put in 3 late-game goals for the win. The Canadians are about to meet a German side they have not defeated since 1994.
"We certainly know the quality of the German team - and obviously we have never beaten them," said Canadian Head Coach John Herdman .
"This match is part of our commitment to keep learning and experiencing the challenges that come with taking on tier one teams."
The Canada-Germany friendly on Wednesday 19 June will be broadcast in Canada on Sportsnet ONE at 11 p.m. CT.
Thirteen of the 18 players named to the squad for the Germany friendly featured in Canada's most recent camp in Toronto.
