Western New York Flash News Release

Elma, N.Y. - Western New York Flash forward Samantha Kerr will be playing with her national team this week, as she received a call to join the Australian senior squad for camp in Canbarra.

Following the Flash's win in New Jersey on Saturday, Kerr flew to her native country and joined the Matildas in preparation for their upcoming friendlies with New Zealand. The two teams will meet twice during the span, first facing the Kiwis in a closed-door match on June 13th. Three days later the teams will play at McKellar Park in a game scheduled to kick-off at 2 p.m. local time (12 a.m. ET).

Kerr, who scored the opening and game-winning goal in Saturday's 3-0 defeat of Sky Blue FC, will return to the United States on June 17th.

Kerr played an integral role in sending the Aussies to the 2011 FIFA World Cup with her two career international goals coming during the 2010 Asian Cup. The Matildas won the tournament, defeating North Korea in penalty kicks with Kerr scoring the lone Australia goal in regulation.

Australia is under the direction of Hesterine de Reus, who was recently appointed to the position after former coach Tom Sermanni became the head coach for the American side.

The Flash will return to action at 7 p.m. on Saturday when they travel to face the Washington Spirit. It will be the second meeting between the two teams, as they played to a 1-1 draw on April 20th.
