The victory for the 22-year old McGuire, Toronto's top draft pick in 2010 (Georgia Tech), came in the night portion of a day-night doubleheader.

New Britain won the day game 7-6 in 11 innings.

McGuire (1-0) allowed three runs on nine hits in seven innings. He walked two and struck out six. It was just the second complete game for a New Hampshire pitcher this season. Zach Stewart, who had the only other complete game, was traded by the Blue Jays earlier in the day to the White Sox organization.

New Hampshire (57-47) opened the scoring in the top of the second inning. Mark Sobolewski finished off an 11-pitch at bat with a single to center that was misplayed. He scored from second on a double by John Tolisano to make it 1-0. After Callix Crabbe reached on an error, Diaz doubled to drive in two runs. Adeiny Hechavarria singled Diaz in for a 4-0 lead.

The Fisher Cats matched the biggest inning of the season in the top of the third when the scored seven runs on eight hits. New Britain (53-50) plated single runs in the third, fourth and fifth innings. Michael Hollimon homered off McGuire to lead off the bottom of the fifth to cut the lead to 11-3.

In the top of the sixth, facing infielder Chris Cates, New Hampshire put six more runs on the board, including a grand slam by Travis d'Arnaud (3-for-5, HR, 5 RBI).

Bobby Lanigan (6-8) took the loss for New Britain.

In the opener, the Rock Cats won 7-6. Chris Parmelee singled home Deibinson Romero with the winning run with two outs in the bottom of the 11th inning off losing pitcher Frank Gailey (0-3).

The Fisher Cats trailed 4-1 after three innings as New Britain hit two early home runs. Joe Benson (4-for-5, HR, 3 RBI) hit a two-run homer in the first inning and Chris Herrmann hit a solo homer in the bottom of the third.

New Hampshire came back to tie with three runs in the fifth on a single by Callix Crabbe, a single by Anthony Gose, and a groundout by Mike McDade. They took a 6-4 lead in the top of the sixth inning on a two-run infield single by Adeiny Hechavarria (4-for-6, 2 RBI).

New Britain tied the game in the bottom of the seventh inning on a single by Benson and a wild pitch.

Tyler Robertson (7-3) picked up the win for the Rock Cats.
