McCarty to Play in Red Wings/Generals Alumni Game Friday

Flint, Mich. - Four-time Stanley Cup champion Darren McCarty is the latest roster addition for the 2nd annual Detroit Red Wings vs. Flint Generals Alumni Game that will be held this Friday, Feb. 19 at the Dort Federal Event Center in Flint.

McCarty, a second round draft pick of the Detroit Red Wings in 1992, scored 121 goals and earned 156 assists for a total of 277 points in 13 seasons with the Detroit Red Wings. Known as a power-forward, McCarty was part of Detroit's famous "Grind Line" with center Kris Draper and winger Kirk Maltby.

McCarty also suited up for the Flint Generals in the IHL for one season in 2007-08. He scored three goals and tallied six points in 11 games with the Generals.

Along with McCarty, Red Wings fan favorites Mickey Redmond, Joe Kocur and Jiri Fischer will also skate for the NHL squad and will be joined by several significant Wings alumni including left winger Petr Klima, right wing and 50 goal-scorer, John Ogrodnick, right wing Brent Fedyk, center and 50 goal scorer, Jimmy Carson, center, Kevin Miller and goalie Eddie Mio.

Red Wing legends Ted Lindsay and Alex Delvecchio will not participate on the ice but will meet and greet fans throughout the night on the Event Center concourse.

Longtime Generals defenseman Lorne Knauft will also be back on the ice including right wing Jim Duhart, defenseman Stephane Brochu, left wing Larry Bernard, defenseman Keith Whitmore, right wing Jason Glover and left wing John Heasty.

Puck drop is set for 7:30 p.m. for the 2nd Annual Alumni Game between the Flint Generals and the Detroit Red Wings and despite the all-star line-up, the family-friendly event won't break the bank as tickets are $15 and $25. Tickets may be purchased at the Dort Federal Box Office, Ticketmaster outlets or www.ticketmaster.com. Groups of 10 or more are eligible for $5 discounts.

Limited VIP (with hot hors d'oeuvres included) tickets are available for $60 and include reserved VIP seating, Blue Line Club access and a private player meet and greet in the Event Center lobby immediately following the game. Proceeds to benefit the Kris Perani Foundation.
