MACON, GA - The Mayhem shored up their goaltending on Friday morning, signing former Knoxville Ice Bears net-minder Hayden Stewart to a contract.

Stewart was the goaltender responsible for eliminating the Mayhem in the 2019 President's Cup Playoffs. Last April, the Rockford, IL native played in both post-season games against the Mayhem, stopping 61 of a combined 64 shots in the series (.953 SV%). He backstopped the Ice Bears to a semi-finals appearance against the eventual champion Huntsville Havoc, where they were ultimately defeated in two games.

The 25-year-old goaltender graduated from Cornell University in 2018, where he played four seasons of Division I college hockey. Since breaking into the professional landscape, Stewart has enjoyed three stints in the ECHL over the past three seasons, and has accumulated a .900 save percentage and a 3.15 goals against average over his SPHL career. Mayhem Head Coach Ryan Michel looks forward to bringing in another net-minder with quality experience at the college and pro levels.

"We are excited to bring Hayden in to round out our goaltending tandem," Michel said. "He possesses an impressive hockey résumé and is a proven winner in our league."

Stewart will be in the lineup for the Mayhem tonight as the Mayhem kick off a home-and-home series with the Pensacola Ice Flyers. He is expected to wear the #39.
