
Mayhem Battle Hard, Fall in Overtime to Rivermen

PEORIA, IL- The Macon Mayhem fought hard on the road against the Peoria Rivermen on Friday, but they ultimately fell in overtime 2-1.
HOW IT HAPPENED
There were only two goals in regulation, with both goals coming in the first 40 minutes. Peoria jumped out to an early lead, as Jordan Carvalho scored the opening goal of the game at the 8:20 mark of the first period. At the 6:32 mark of the second period, Jake Trask scored right in front to tie the game. Dylan Vander Esch tallied the assist on the goal. The two teams played a scoreless third period, and the game went into overtime tied 1-1.
Both goaltenders prevailed In a back-and-forth overtime period until Jordan Carvalho scored his second goal of the game with 26 seconds left in the extra frame. He and Alec Hagaman came down on a two-on-one and Carvalho roofed the shot past Charlie Finn.
NOTABLE STATS
Charlie Finn started his 28th game of the season, as he was backed up by newly acquired Peter Di Salvo. Finn saved 21 of the 23 shots he faced, but he falls to 16-8-2 on the season.
After scoring on the power play in four consecutive games and racking up a seven-for-16 streak, the Mayhem were unable to convert any of their three man-advantage opportunities.
With his goal in the game, Jake Trask now has 24 goals, 36 assists and 60 points in 47 games this season. Trask's previous career high in points was last season, when he had 48 points over 50 games.
